This year marks a truly historic milestone – Papua New Guinea’s 50th Independence Day. All around the world, PNG communities are preparing to celebrate this golden anniversary with pride, unity, and plenty of culture. And right here in Beenleigh, Queensland, the celebrations will be bigger and better than ever!

PNG 50th Independence Day at Beenleigh

On Saturday, 13 September 2025, the Beenleigh Showgrounds will come alive with the vibrant colours, music, and traditions of Papua New Guinea. Families, friends, and supporters from across Brisbane, Logan, and beyond will gather to celebrate half a century of independence since 16 September 1975.

You can expect:

• Cultural performances – traditional singsing, dances, and live music that showcase PNG’s rich heritage.

• Food stalls – a taste of home with island flavours, street food, and plenty of kai to share.

• Market stalls – crafts, clothing, and PNG-inspired creations from local businesses.

• Community pride – a chance for everyone to come together and celebrate PNG’s unique culture and independence journey.
